Discrimination

Discrimination: is the act of discriminating or the making of a difference in particular cases. It is the drawing of distinctions. Unlawful discrimination refers to differentiation on the basis of attributes described in the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (EEO) so as to disadvantage some groups or individuals. You may not be discriminated against on the grounds of:

  • sex;
  • marital status;
  • pregnancy;
  • family responsibility or status;
  • race;
  • religious and/or political conviction; 
  • impairment;
  • age;
  • gender history;
  • sexual orientation; or
  • spent convictions.
